Sitting on a Stump!

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth’s rite of Passage?
His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own. The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him. Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man! Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold. It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him. He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

We, too, are never alone. Even when we don’t know it, God is watching over us, sitting on the stump beside us. When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him. Just because you can’t see God, doesn’t mean He is not there. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Trust in Him and do right. This was one of the internet stories that are always circulated but this one struck a special chord in me. There have been countless occasions where i have felt very alone and almost forgotten. Stories like this illustrate in such a clear and special way of the love of God. I may not be sitting on a stump but every step I talk it’s always good to know that God has His eye on me!

plumbing woes…

First my bathroom sink was having a little problem with drainage. Then I thought pouring down some soda powder would help matters! Unfortunately, now my the sink has drainage problems and it leaks too! Point ot note, there is a reason plumbers exist! Thankfully there is a cell member that just happens to be a professional plumber! woo hoo!

Asides from my plumbing woes, more importantly on the national front is that the Parliament has been dissolved. Elections are just around the corner and I believe all Christians no matter what your sentiment may be is duty bound to vote. I pray that Christians will take up this matter seriously and prayerfully. The prayer of a righteous man availeth much! So get ready to vote by first going on your knees in prayer. A call for all Young and Old adults to rise up to this challenge. My voting station has always been Assunta Secondary School…talk about being a true Assuntarian! Hahah!
