Assuntarian extravaganza!

It just hit me at the end of the day! I actually spent a glorious day with three wonderful women who coincidentally happened to be Assuntarians! It started with an Assuntarian breakfast at Pan Bakery! Followed by an Assuntarian lunch plan and topped it all off with tea time special at an Assuntarian home. Of course there was an Assuntarian FB message for me too! Woo hoo! Ok ok it’s a cheap thrill but I had a real good time. It was catching up time with old friends and for me it was a time of reflecting on how good God has been in their lives. We all grew as Christians in our high school and it’s so great to see us all serving the Lord in the different capacities! Good friends are rare and hard to find. It takes a lot of effort to maintain friendships, bit by God’s grace these friendships are to be cherished and watered well.

Cherish the friends around you, they will be your source of encouragement in the years to come! Trust me!

Love the Overlooked!

Interesting article from Max Lucado on servanthood. As Jesus emptied himself (kenosis) he took on a form that was pretty demeaning if you really take a close look at what He gave up. In reading Philip Yancey’s book Disappointments in God, so much is brought to light about the great love that was demonstrated in giving up everything to assume a form that would not instill fear in man but to bring forth a reconciliation to the Father. So Max article prompted these thoughts to be acted out.

1. Love the Overlooked – it’s easier to pretend you don’t see that person.  But today, ask God to open your eyes and step out to bless!
2. Wave the white flag -  quit fighting the small stuff.  Let personal pride die, that Christ may live in us!
3. Do something for someone else that you don’t really like! – Sigh! This includes picking up garbage, sending someone home who stays really far away, and I am sure there are many more examples.

To be a servant leader is the hardest aspect that I must continuously strive to learn and to emulate. I must admit this side of me needs a lot more work and fine tuning! O Jesus, do give me strength, wisdom and steadfastness to do what you need me to do. Amen!
