Tonight despite the storm I will make my way to a dear friend’s dad’s wake service. I have known this family for at least 23 years! I remember Uncle who jogged all over section 5 rain or shine. He was fitter then most youngsters ou age. Thru the years, though my friend left to study abroad and eventually worked there, I saw the family weekly in church.
The parents always had a ready smile and it was hard not to return the smile. In fact it was a smile that almost demanded a hug – that is the kind of people they are. They attended my graduation and brought gifts. Their joy and jubilation was almost as though I was their daughter. This couple battled thru the ups and downs of life clinging on to Jesus. Despite getting on in years, this couple cooked for the Lifezone Drug Rehab cente once a month (and also for the church staff at times). Their generosity in sowing time and love touches everyone to the very core.
Tonight I will be there to pay my final respects to the late Uncle Tan Huck Gay – a valiant man who marched his faith and walked his talk with an uncompromising stance.
How will Auntie Helena be? After living with your lifelong companion for more than 60 years, how will it be like? I pray that our wonderful tender comforter and friend will be her constant companion in the days and nights to come. Holy Spirit do be with her. May I too be a blessing and be mindful of them as they have been of me and countless others.
May my light shine as bright as Uncle Tan’s did. The heavens are rejoicing at the homecoming of such a man of God. Till it is my turn, I will keep running my own race knowing that I am cheered on by such a great cloud of witnesses!
